Lionel Wilmet is a former Special Olympics athlete who loves to climb the highest mountain passes, in tandem with his father. His next goal is to climb the Col du Galibier (France) and raise money for the 2014 Special Olympics European Summer Games. You can join Lionel in his attempt and/or encourage him financially. Wednesday 8th May the 32nd Special Olympics Belgium National Games were officially declared open during a moving Ceremony at the Sint-Pietersplein in Ghent. It stopped raining 15 minutes before the start of the event and as of then the atmosphere got warmer every minute.
From 8 to 11 May the City of Ghent welcomed more than 3300 Special Olympics athletes from 280 Belgian clubs to participate in the 2013 National Games. These Games are the biggest sporting event in Belgium for athletes with intellectual disabilities. A four-day sports festival with competitions in 19 different sports. Hip, hip hurray for all the athletes and congratulations to the organization!

Special Olympics Belgium together with the SO2014 organization had the opportunity to publicly present the 'Games of the Heart'. The info session took place in the premises of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives.
