Two Special Olympics athletes very successfully ran the DVV Antwerp 10 Miles on Sunday 21 April. Mathieu De Smedt ran the race in 1:50:17 and André Schepers made it in an extraordinary 1:06:19! Congratulations! They also ran with the Olympics Torch, wich made the happening even more appealing.

On the occasion of the 2013 edition of Hercules Trophy in Belgium, 1 EUR per player will be donated to SO2014. Also, at the event that takes place on June 22nd and 23rd 2013 in De Nekker Mechelen, the first crowdfunding activity to the benefit of the Games of the Heart will be organized.

Unified Sailing joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and sailing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
SO2014 is happy to have signed the first 2014 Special Olympics European Summer Games Charter last week with Basisschool Atheneum Keerbergen. They are the first school to support the Games. Many more to come!
The 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games took place in Korea from 29 January to 5 February. 3,200 participants from 110 countries competing in 7 sports. Our Belgian athletes won 34 medals! Congratulations!
